Happy Birthday Spencer

So,

My good good friend Spencer turns 31 Today! I will take this opportunity to publicly wish you a very happy birthday mate, its my absolute pleasure to count you amongst my friends!

Yesterday to celebrate we all went to Bollywoods in Hertford for a curry. Its a cracking Indian, really nice food, a pleasant atmosphere and great service. Check it out if you get the chance.

Pictures below! (poor phone quality again, sod convergence, I want a decent digicam for Christmas!)

Ready to eat! Emily, Sarah, Steve, Lisa, Liz, Ant, Spen, Dale, & Kate

That food up close!

(Sorry to Liz, Ant and Lisa, I didn't get your close ups!)

Feeling blue

Keeping with the music vibe (if you are reading from the bottom up!) Sean O'Keefe, aka Deep Blue sorted me out with a copy of his new album the other day, (after I cheekily emailed him and asked him for one :-) )

It's a great piece of work, mixing up D&B with techno and house influences, and it has officially become my new "listen to whilst doing the housework" album. (That's a good thing, BTW!)

You can listen to some excerpts from the album by clicking here and scrollling down to the record sleeve.

The album is called Metropolitain Chic.

On a related note, I found a copy of an old 2 bad mice PA on a very obscure german website. I think its from 92 at Hernes Bay?

The MC is a bit OTT, but it might still make you smile! Click here to listen!

Reminiscing

At Christmas (which seems so long ago!) I bumped in to an old friend called Ben. We used to hang out back in the day and we both used to DJ and go to raves etc.

So anyway, Ben told me that he now plays old school on an internet radio station, called remanissradio, and he invited me down to play a slot.

Well, for one reason or another, mainly new house related, it took me till last week to actually pull my finger out and head down there with Ben and John, (another old friend).

Suffice to say I had a great time playing some classic tracks like Babylon, quadrophenia, Bombscare, Genaside II etc, and I also had a good chat on the mike!

Thanks to Ben and John for inviting me, if you get the chance check out remanissradio, they play on a Tuesday night.

Its all about syndication

Apparently...

Anyway, if you do use rss, and you want to keep up to date with my posts, stick http://rmgwm.blogspot.com/atom.xml into your favorite rss reader!

And just so this post isn't totally self serving, ;-) Google have some rather cool new things.

You may already know about Google maps and Google Earth (the 3D version)

Well now they have Google video which catalogues videos and lets you play them in browser. Its fast, free (at the moment) and pretty impressive.

Hmm, maybe I should think about getting some Google shares!

Schmoking!

So,

Two months without a cigarette.

Yay me! :-)

Im still chewing nicotine like its going out of fashion but according to the label that's ok! And if you cant trust GSK who can you trust ;-)

Tonight Im going to a Birthday Party for a guy called John Hughes, a *very* old school friend.

Quite looking forward to it actually! Its a shame that my bro Rav cant make it (he is friends with him as well) but he is starring in a play at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Speaking of Rav, he was on Newsnight the other day, which was odd! It was a piece on
Comedy in the face of terrorism, and featured him in his play.

You can see the clip by clicking here.

I also have a copy of the full broadcast, if anyone wants to see it just email me.

Oh, and out of interest, I used the excellent Hi Net recorder to grab the broadcast from the BBC Newsnight site and the equally great AsfTools to cut out the relevant section.

Back

Hi, Been a way for a while, I had a holiday in Portugal with Liz which was nice. A lovely little seaside town called Cascais.

Not smoking was very very hard, but I managed it :-) I have now done 6 weeks without a ciggie and Im a bit fatter but very pleased :-)

On a techy note, the fantastic myYahoo service which I use all the time has launched a new version. I upgraded Today and it really is a lot better. They allow rss content as well which is nice. Check it out here

Before I forget, congratulations to Haley, who has just bought a lovely flat in Bengeo, round the corner from Sarah and the ginger one.

Right, must crack on, lots of work to do.

PS - If a man called James offers to buy you tequila decline! He only wants to get you drunk and make you fall in rivers!

Smoking sucks

But giving up sucks harder. This is my 8th day without a cigarette and the worst yet by far. I feel really antsy for want of a better phrase and have already had the desire to punch several people (not a good idea when you are at work.) I am currently stuffing my face with food in an attempt to stave of the cravings, whilst also chewing nicotine replacement gum, which did the job up until now but is fast loosing its appeal. I guess it will all be worth it in the end.

Glastonbury

So my brother went to Glastonbury, and had a great time by all accounts. I received a couple of phone calls from him, (one at midnight on Saturday when I was hammered and trying to sleep, thanks bruv). I watched it on the telly and must admit that I was most impressed by Kasabian. Very very good. Hopefully I will get to see how well the Jax went down on Sunday, either by seeing it on the bbc or grabbing a torrent. Im sure there are a few floating about of the event. Catch up with my brothers views on the event by visiting his blog.

Phones are lovely

So im currently hanging out at: HowardForums PPC and XDA Developers, having finally bought a pocket PC phone in the shape of the flawed genius that is the iMate Jam.

Its a nifty handset but the audio quality is not great and it has some dire Bluetooth deficiencies but hey, it does a lot of things really well :-)
